Our Worthiness In Jesus Christ

Romans 8:1, ‘Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.’

Let us examine ourselves and see whether we are in Christ Jesus.

V2, ‘For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.’

There is life in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit has set us free from the law of sin and of death.

V3, ‘For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,’

There is a weakness in flesh, which carries us away into this world. There is no good thing in our flesh. Jesus Christ came into this world in the likeness of sinful flesh, as an offering for sin, condemned sin in the flesh. Thank God for Jesus Christ.

What is sin?

  1. Romans 3:23, ‘for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,’

All have sinned. All have fallen short of the glory of God. This is sin.

  1. 1 John 3:4, ‘Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.’

Every day when we are doing things against the Word of God, who are practicing lawlessness, are sinning.

  1. Romans 14:23, ‘But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.’

Whatever is not from faith is sin.

  1. James 4:17, ‘Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.’

Those who do not do the right thing, even though when they know; it is sin.

This is the reason that Jesus Christ came into this world. To save us from our sins. He qualified us to come into His presence. It is through the blood of Jesus Christ; we can be saved. Let us repent and come to the Lord, when we have the breath in us. Praise God for the Holy Spirit within us. It is the promptings of the Holy Spirit, which is leading each one of us to repent. Thank God for the Holy Spirit.

Romans 3:25, ‘whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed;’

God displayed publicly; the propitiation in His blood through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness.

Romans 4:25, ‘He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.’

He was delivered over because of our sins and was raised by God for our justification.

Romans 5:1, ‘Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,’

Because, He justified us by faith; we are made right with God. When we submit ourselves to God, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

V2, ‘through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.’

We exult in the hope of the glory of God, having obtained our introduction by faith into His grace in which we stand.

V3, ‘And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.’

Day by day as we are standing with the Lord, we will also exult in our tribulations, knowing that the tribulation brings perseverance, perseverance brings proven character, character brings hope and this hope does not disappoint, as the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. It is molding us and giving us character and His nature. Jesus Christ is pouring out His love through the Holy Spirit in our lives, even today. Are we ready to accept that? If we are willing, then He will pour out His love to each one of us. Thank God for the worthiness He has given to each one of us.

Romans 7:7, ‘What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.”’

V8, ‘But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead.’

The law helps us to see that there is lust and covetousness in us.

V9, ‘I was once alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin became alive and I died; 10 and this commandment, which was to result in life, proved to result in death for me; 11 for sin, taking an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me. 12 So then, the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.’

Paul Says, ‘I was alive without the law. When the commandment came, sin became alive and I died. The commandment which was to result in life, proved to result in death.’

Paul says that there is a struggle between the two natures.

V13,Therefore did that which is good become a cause of death for me? May it never be! Rather it was sin, in order that it might be shown to be sin by effecting my death through that which is good, so that through the commandment sin would become utterly sinful.’

V14, ‘For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin.’

V15, ‘For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.’

This is also our condition. We do not understand. We want to please God and do good but something of the other is pulling us down. Paul says, he is doing the very thing that he hates.

V17, ‘So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.’

V18, ‘For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.’

This is the realization point where we need to come, knowing that there is no good thing that dwells in our flesh.

V20, ‘But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.’

V21, ‘find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. 22 For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, 23 but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?

Paul says I am a wretched man. This is the realization we need to have on ourselves – ‘who will set us free from this wretchedness’?

25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.’

Thank you, Father, for sending His only begotten son, Jesus Christ into the world for us.

Romans 8:1, ‘Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.’

We need to examine ourselves if we are in Christ Jesus. Whether we have been clothed with Christ Jesus. We need to repent and come to the presence of God. if not, it will bring God’s wrath upon us.

V2, ‘For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,’

It is only through Jesus Christ we are being saved.

2 Corinthians 5:21, ‘He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.’

This is the privilege God gave us through Jesus Christ, having been clothed with His righteousness, as though we never sinned. When we repent, God is justifying us and giving us His righteousness. He is not going to look back at what we have done in the past. This is the time to repent.

2 Corinthians 5:10, ‘For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.’

We have time to repent. Let us repent as we will appear before the judgment seat of Christ. There is an accountability for each one of us.

1 John 1:5, ‘This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;’

We are lying if we say we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in darkness.

V7, ‘but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.’

God is light. When we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, God will help us and will cleanse us from all sin.

V9, ‘If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.’

If we confess the conscious sins and the unconscious sins, God will reveal to us as we walk in the light; He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Let us open our hearts to Him and repent.

Thank God for His Word and the worthiness He gave us through Jesus Christ.
