Fellowship with the Father

It is written in Exodus 33:15 of Moses saying to the Lord “If your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here” and also the psalmist says in Psalms 51:11 “Do not cast me away from your presence and do not take your Holy Spirit from me”.In Mathew 28:20 we read in the last portion that “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” This is one of the greatest blessing from the Lord for His children that He is with us always even to the end of the age. It is promised us that whatever situation we are facing, it may be depression, loneliness, persecutions, etc, He is with us. God wants us to be deeply rooted in this verse. In John 14:16 it is written God has given us the Spirit of truth as our helper. One of the names of Jesus is Immanuel (God is with us). Throughout the new testament we read this many times – the Lord is with us. In Rev 22:13 God says “I am the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” From our life on earth, from beginning to end the promise of God is that He is with us. We can see that throughout the old testament God encourages His people with the words,“Fear not I am with you”. We can see one example of this in Joshua 1:9, God commanding Joshua to not fear and that He is with Joshua wherever he goes. In 2 Corinthians 6:16 it says our God will dwell among us and He will be our God and we will be His people. We are God’s own children and our God is with us. In Romans 8:31 we read, “If God is for us, who can be against us.” When we read further we see that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. No one can bring any charge against His people because He is with us. He is assuring us of this many times in these verses. We should not doubt the presence of God.

This is one side of the coin that God is with us. The other side is – how is our relationship with God the Father? God eagerly waits to have communion and fellowship with His children. He wants to fulfill His joy in our lives. In Genesis 3 we read of what happens after man falls into sin. God wanted to be with man for fellowship. We see here a God who is searching for Adam & Eve. In Genesis 5:22 we read about Enoch – the first man who walked with God. Enoch enjoyed the presence of God and pleased Him daily. God took Him up because God was pleased in Enoch’s life. We need to draw near to God and enjoy fellowship with Him. In John 15 we read that Jesus wants us to have the fullness of joy by walking with Him daily.

The promise of God is that He is with us.”

Asaph says in Psalms 73: 23-25 that he longs for nothing but God. Asaph was convinced that God was with him and that His council would guide him. Asaph continues to say in verse 28 that the nearness of God is good. To be with God is the most important thing in our Christian life. In Proverbs 3:6 we read in the Living Bible translation, “In everything you do put God first in your life and He will direct you and crown you with success.” This is a very encouraging promise. Our God is not far from us – in Him we live, in Him we move and in Him we exist. In 1 John 1:1-7 we read that if we need to have fellowship with the Lord, we need to walk in the light. We need to walk in God’s will for our life. When we continue to practice this, when we finally meet our Savior in heaven we will walk with Him in white! (Rev 3:3,4) God wants us to walk in the light and have fellowship with one another and with Him! Our walk should be in accordance to God’s will.

God can be with us only if we are careful to be in fellowship with Him always. We should also notice that the promise of Jesus to be with us always is not open for everyone. In Mathew 28, Jesus gives this promise after mentioning about discipleship. If we are careful to be His disciples and also are willing to go and make disciples as God commanded us, then this promise is for us. Let us check ourselves that we fulfill the condition to claim this promise in our lives. God bless.
